Volunteer!

Texas has hundreds of disc golf courses, most of which are open to the general public. Ownership and maintenance falls into several categories: local government, commercial ventures, community owned, church or other organization, private.

Regardless of ownership, all courses need maintenance.

Commercial (paid) courses are generally maintained by the owners, as are most courses owned by churches or private organizations.

Public courses, usually on park property owned by cities or counties, are generally supposed to be maintained by that municipality. However, such maintenance is often spotty and subject to park department budgets and time constraints.

Local disc golf groups often step in to work with park management to ensure that disc golf courses are kept in usable condition. Mowing is usually done by municipal workers, but disc golf club volunteers often setup & repair baskets, install tee boxes, remove debris, trim or remove dead trees, etc.

Volunteers often show up with weedeaters, mowers, chain saws, pruning shears.. or just gloves, trash bags & energy!

This volunteer work is a great way to contribute to the sport, while building friendships and networking opportunities with other disc golfers. Contact your local disc golf association to see if they need help with course maintenance!
